Volume 1 highlights life-saving role of new methods and proven technologies around the world

Since the IRF’s establishment in 1948, knowledge transfer has been the core of what the IRF does best.

As industry tools and procedures evolve to meet societies’ needs, the availability of global knowledge resources is now more important than ever.

As a freely available periodical journal featuring peer reviewed technical papers by leading industry professionals, the IRF Examiner directly supports the IRF’s stated mission of creating a global marketplace of transportation knowledge in support of informed policies and effective programs.

The Spring 2014 edition of the IRF Examiner addresses life-saving road safety applications ranging from school zone safety projects in Abu Dhabi to rumble strips on rural highways.

According to IRF chairman Eng. Abdullah Al-Mogbel, “The IRF Examiner is an instrument designed to broadcast — and build on — the sum of academic and technical knowledge assembled during the highly successful 17th IRF World Meeting & Exhibition in Riyadh.

It is both a useful resource for our industry and a tangible illustration of the IRF’s commitment to better roads for a better world.”

3918 IRF Washington president & CEO C Patrick Sankey noted...

“Global road deaths and traffic-related injuries have reached epidemic levels, causing significant personal and financial losses to society.

There is little question that the systematic use of diagnostic tools and roadside treatment such as those presented in the launch edition of the IRF Examiner could prevent many such casualties.”
