IRF announces the winners of its 2019 Global Road Achievement Awards

IRF has announced the winners of the 2019 IRF Global Road Achievement Awards, a global competition to recognise outstanding achievement by road professionals.

Turkey’s third Bosphorus Bridge won the IRF GRAA in the Design category

Instituted in 2000, the Awards have distinguished more than 150 programmes, projects and products from around the world.

This year, the IRF honours 12 projects from around the world, each leading the way in innovation across major road and highway disciplines. The selection was made by an international panel of senior road development specialists.

"As an industry, we understand the importance of setting a long- term agenda for our research activities and capital investments" said IRF chairman Abdullah Al-Mogbel. "By promoting innovations and the successes in our industry, we can provide a forward-looking road map for others to follow."

The winning projects this year range from a new reversible express toll lane to a sophisticated asset status visualisation tool powered by Artificial Intelligence. Accepting the award in the “Asset Preservation” category, Nikhil Ranga, Director of Product and Customer Experience at RoadBotics stated: “We’re on a mission to make road maintenance simpler and more cost-effective for everyone, and our technology is doing just that. We’re honoured that the International Road Federation sees the potential in this product making a difference for road managers all over the world.”

2020 GRAA Application Information

APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 31st, 2020

The application package must include:

1. A completed application form
2. A project summary (<500 words)
3. An explanation of how the project meets the criteria of the category in which it has been submitted (~100 words)
4. Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (.ppt or .pptx) including but not limited to slides, photographs, drawings, diagrams, videos, or additional explanatory materials. (Presentations should be limited to 30 slides or less).
