The IRF’s Global Road Conference will provide attendees with valuable learning potential
Technology and innovations are evolving at a pace never seen before in the history of the road and transport sector. From innovations in materials, such as self-healing concrete and rubberised asphalt, to advances in construction equipment automation, and of course, the dawn of the connected and automated vehicle, we are on the verge of a new era.

With such remarkable developments, the 2462 IRF found it important to organise a global event that brought together the most innovative researchers with the top practitioners and users of innovation and technology. As such it is our pleasure to invite innovators, researchers and practitioners to submit abstracts in the following topics and help us build tomorrow’s transport infrastructure today.

  • Deadline for submitting European Transport Conference 2014 abstracts
    February 3, 2014
Tomorrow is the deadline for submitting abstracts to the European Transport Conference (ETC) 2014. The ETC connects the worlds of research, consultancy, policy and practice. Attendance at ETC allows different groups to pose questions to fellow professionals and to assess what is possible in terms of delivery. Researchers are challenged by policy-makers; practitioners need to deliver on the ground what the policy-makers want. The Association for European Transport has identified for the 2014 Conference so
  • GRAA winning project profile: RJ122 Highway Rehabilitation
    June 24, 2013
The State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil administers a wide network of highways and is faced with a significant maintenance management challenge of how to best make improvements having a perdurable impact. The maintenance management for the project needed to be done at a reasonable cost and needed to be able to withstand a heavy traffic flow. To meet such challenges, the Rio de Janeiro selected project RJ122 to undertake a new type of maintenance strategy. The RJ122 highway is a unique paving project in the rece

    July 8, 2019
A key question has always existed in the infrastructural sector; which material to use in order to reduce the time and efforts spend for maintenance required for construction of a particular structure? Fortunately, a material already exists to provide the necessary results. No surprises here – it’s not a special compound, rather it’s a variation of the most common building material ever used, viz. self-healing concrete. This compound has been embraced on a fairly large scale now, thereby giving rise to a di
