Jointly organised by the International Road Federation (3918 IRF Washington) and the Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM), the 2nd IRF Asia Regional Congress & Exhibition (October 16-20, 2016 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) will once again be the premier event for the road sector and transportation professionals in the region.

The Congress will provide a forum for showcasing best practices, new technologies, cutting edge research, and practical applications that can maximise returns from road investments.

Building on the success of the previous edition, the 2nd IRF Asia Congress will continue to discuss and advocate for building and maintaining a highway network that is efficient, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

The prospects for growth in Asia and particularly in South Asia and ASEAN are tremendous, but the region’s true potential will not be unleashed unless there is well planned and efficient highway network that is part of a well-integrated road transport network.

According to Eng. Adanan Bin Mohamed Hussein, Director General of the Public Works Department, “The Asian continent is a patchwork of territories characterised by diverse topography, climatic conditions, population densities, cultures and forms of governance. These challenges mandate in depth consideration towards the goal of realising a connected network of highways – they also require us to share intellectual capital through timely events such as the IRF Asia Regional Congress.”
