2490 XCMG is increasing its presence in the North American market, emphasised by the fact that the machines on its stand at Conexpo 2014 are already sold. Yansong Wang is vice president and chairman for XCMG and said, “All the machines have been ordered by customers.”

The nine machines included three excavators, a soil compactor, a wheeled loader and various cranes. The units meet North American Tier 4 emissions requirements and Wang said, “All the machines are powered by 196 Cummins diesels. The machines are similar to those sold in the European market.” He added however that the XCMG cranes sold in Europe feature 2796 Mercedes diesels, to suit local market preferences.

The company is building its dealer network and Wang said, “These products are supported by local dealers and we’re getting more onboard.” He explained that the company has three spares depots for the US, located in New York, Miami and adjacent to its 4991 Schwing concrete pump factory in Minnesota. The Schwing facility is used to assemble XCMG machines at present but the firm has plans to develop a production facility. Wang said, “We will build a factory in the US in the second half of this year in Minnesota where we have the Schwing factory.”

The company intends to develop a similar presence in the US as it has in the Brazilian market. “We invested US$200 million in the factory in Brazil.” Wang recognises that it has taken time to build its high profile in Brazil however and that competition in the US is also strong. XCMG’s US plant will build excavators for the volume market in the 21-47tonne range as well as crawler cranes, mobile cranes, wheeled loaders and soil compactors.

Doka is inviting Conexpo 2014 visitors to take a look into the future of formwork technology – with the Austrian firm’s DokaTruss table and Super Climber SCP on show. A modular forming machine optimised for highrise cores, Doka says the new and improved version of the proven Super Climber SCP has been “rigorously developed”. In combination with DokaTruss table, a system aimed for setting and stripping large slab formwork, high speed construction cycles can, says Doka, be achieved efficiently. In the Comp
