2188 Ausa has developed the D1000AHG dumper which offers a 10tonne load capacity and features a skip with 180º rotation for unloading. Like the smaller models in the range, the D1000AHG offers high productivity and low maintenance costs. Power comes from a 1265 Kubota diesel with low exhaust and noise emissions, as well as low fuel consumption.

The driveline features a torque converter with a synchronised gearbox that has four forward and four reverse speeds. The machine has a raised driver's seat that allows forward visibility from 8.7m. Among other items, standard equipment for the D 1000 AHG includes the ROPS folding rollover protection system, anti-vandal security system, ergonomic seat and audible reverse warning.

Sandvik says that its new Rammer Cutter- Crusher (RCC) range is manufactured from wear-resistant HB400 steel for a longer life. The attachments include cutter-crushers, scrap shears and pulverisers. All RCC models are suitable for carriers in the 2.72-118tonne (3-130ton) operating weight range. And all, except the 290kg RCC04R, feature a chamfered jaw design for greater penetration, a speed valve and desynchronised jaws for more precise placement and faster cycle times. All models, other than the RCC0

The unveiling of HAMM's innovative H20i soil compactor at the recent CONEXPOCON/ AGG exhibition in Las Vegas has been a significant development for this type of equipment. The machine is of note as it packs its emission compliant Deutz diesel under a closefitting cover in the rear chassis. In the 1990s, Ammann was a pioneer in the soil compactor segment when it developed machines featuring a sloping rear engine cover, as well as a larger cab with big glass panes. The range was designed this way so as to

More sophisticated compaction technologies are now coming to market, offering a wide range of benefits to users While asphalt paving techniques vary widely between North America and Europe, there is greater commonality in the compaction methods required. New developments in compaction rollers are offering contractors using both North American and European style paving techniques major gains in quality. According to Robert Horan, a regional engineer for the US-based Asphalt Institute, intelligent compact
