Paraguay’s new highway project receiving funding

Funding for a major highway project in Paraguay will be provided by Japan's International Co-operation Agency (JICA).

Funding for a major highway project in Paraguay will be provided by Japan's International Co-operation Agency (6706 JICA). The project will cost US$176 million and involves building a 147km connection between the town of Natalio and the Los Cedrales District. The bids for the contract were announced in April 2017.

    In Paraguay the government is setting up plans for rebuilding Ruta 9, the Transchaco road. Negotiations have been held with regard to funding with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB).
