German province Thuringia road development

The German province of Thuringia plans to maintain, repair and develop its road network during 2016. A budget of €222 million has been set for spending on roads in Thuringia during 2016 by the authorities. During the summer period there will be 37 workzone sites on Thuringia's road network. The main commercial and administrative centre for Thuringia is Erfurt, although the province also includes the historically important towns of Weimar and Eisenach.

    Plans are now well in hand in China's Hebei and Zhejiang Provinces to build new highway connections and boost transport infrastructure. In Hebei Province a total of 12 highway projects worth an impressive US$9.66 billion will commence in 2011. These new highways will add a total of 852km to the network of the province. In addition, the authorities in Hebei Province are detailing additional plans to continue to develop the highway network with a target set of 6,762km in total by the end of 2015.

    In 2016, German manufacturers of construction equipment achieved a turnover of €9.3 billion, an increase of 3% compared to 2015. Of note though is that the same period, global sales of construction equipment declined by 1%. German companies managed to perform better than the world market and develop market share. In 2017, they expect another increase in sales by 3%.
