Vietnam’s key highway project commencing

Construction of Vietnam’s North-South expressway is planned to commence during 2019. An initial funding package of US$600 million will pay for the start of the works, which includes buying the land and clearing the way for the route. The winners of the tenders for the first sections should be announced in April-June 2019, with these sections due for completion in 2021. The winners of the tenders for a bridge section on the route should be announced in October 2019, with the bridge due for completion in 2022

Construction of Vietnam’s North-South expressway is planned to commence during 2019. An initial funding package of US$600 million will pay for the start of the works, which includes buying the land and clearing the way for the route. The winners of the tenders for the first sections should be announced in April-June 2019, with these sections due for completion in 2021. The winners of the tenders for a bridge section on the route should be announced in October 2019, with the bridge due for completion in 2022.

Meanwhile the project for Vietnam’s Cat Lai bridge may well be split into three separate tenders. The project is due to cost around $308 million The project will also involve building two new short road sections to link with the structure.

This 13km project was carried out by Spanish contractor OHL, having been awarded in 2014 by Vietnam Expressway Corporation.     The Estonian capital Tallinn, announced that Nordecon is the winner in the €19.8 million tender for reconstruction of the Haabersti road intersection. As part of the reconstruction, two tunnels - 38m and 54m – will be built for cyclists and pedestrians. Phase one of the project includes a 277m-long road bridge in the direction of Paldiski Road and phase two will construction of a roundabout with traffic lights.   • Widening for key section of UK’s A11 route complete

    Contractor Balfour Beatty has completed the €132.4 million (£105 million) upgrade of the last remaining single carriageway section of the A11. This section of the route runs between Barton Mills in Suffolk and Thetford in Norfolk. The work involved dualling nearly 15km of carriageway on behalf of the Highways Agency.
