Romania is planning a series of transport improvements.

Romania is planning a massive programme of transport infrastructure improvements. A budget of €17 billion has been set for the work being planned for the 2021-2027 period.

This compares with the €5.6 billion budget for transport infrastructure improvements, including highway construction and upgrades as well as rail link developments, in the 2014-2020 period. The programme is intended to see 1,700km of highways being constructed.

    The design contract for Ireland’s Cork to Limerick motorway connection has now been awarded. The design package is worth €15 million and is being handled jointly by Irish firm JB Barry Transportation, Swedish company Sweco and WSP based in Canada.
