India’s Maharashtra State is setting out a massive programme for infrastructure development. In all some US$47.08 billion of infrastructure works will be carried out. Transport development is a key priority, with a series of major highway construction projects now being planned.

The highway project will be carried out by the contractor GHV (India) and the package of works was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).     A new elevated road project is being planned for Karnataka State in southern India. Construction of the new link is expected to cost US$3.44 billion. The first phase of the route will stretch over 102km. Construction should commence in 2019. The work will be carried out under the PPP model. The new link is expected to improve traffic flow in the state.
