India’s Maharashtra State is setting out a massive programme for infrastructure development. In all some US$47.08 billion of infrastructure works will be carried out. Transport development is a key priority, with a series of major highway construction projects now being planned.

    The Ethiopian Government has set out plans for a major programme of road development work to expand the country’s network. In all 58 road projects are being planned, with the programme having been set out by the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA). The plans call for 3,171km of roads to be built in all.     Ethiopia is setting a target of 2020 to complete its road expansion programme. The plan has been to double the length of the country’s road network in the period from 2015 to 2020. At present Ethiopia has around 121,200km of roads, compared with around 100,000km of roads in 2015. But by 2020, the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) aims to expand the network to 200,000km.
