Canadian road upgrades

Canada's Ontario Province is budgeting US$138.5 million for road and bridge projects.

Canada's Ontario Province is budgeting US$138.5 million for road and bridge projects. This will be spent on 43 existing road and bridge projects, with half of the cost coming from Ontario and half from an Infrastructure Stimulus Fund provided by the central Canadian Government. The projects targeted by this scheme include bridge repairs in Toronto and Oshawa and resurfacing of highways in Burlington, Toronto and Tobermory.

  • Nicaragua highway funding deal secured

    Repairs and improvement works will now go ahead on Nicaragua’s Pista Juan Pablo II highway in capital Managua. The project is expected to cost close to US$256 million to carry out. A portion of the funding required will come in the shape of a loan worth $105.5 million from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). Nicaragua’s Ministry of Treasury and Public Credit is aiming to receive the remainder of the funding necessary for the work through a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB)

    Montenegro has spent €198 million on road maintenance and construction in the past five years, according to Mirsad Ibrahimovic, director of the Directorate for State Roads. The government also announced this past summer that construction of the Bar-Bolijare highway is being accelerated. China Roads and Bridges Company is the main contractor the Podgoric-to-Matesevo stretch, with work set to remain within the €194 million budget.
