Ukraine's roads benefit from Russian loan

Ukraine's state road company Ukravtodor will boost road repairs and upgrades with a loan from the Russian Sberbank.

Ukraine's state road company 2780 UkrAvTodor will boost road repairs and upgrades with a loan from the Russian 3280 Sberbank. Worth US$376 million (?261.82 million) the loan will be used to improve key links in the country. High on the priority list of repairs and upgrades will be roads required for the Euro-2012 football event. The Ukrainian Government is the guarantor for the loan although the financial terms have not been released.

    The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) is calling for more bridge repairs in the US. There are still too many structurally deficient bridges in the US according to a recent analysis. This report states that while there were 2,574 fewer structurally deficient bridges in 2015 compared to the number in 2014, there are still 58,500 on the structurally deficient list.     An ambitious road improvement scheme has been proposed by the Mozambique Government. The programme of works calls for the paving of 2,100km of roads by 2019. The scheme will address both national and regional roads across the country between 2015 and 2019, covering around 420km/year of roads on average.
