Concern for Russia’s poor road quality

A new report highlights the poor conditions of Russia’s roads. The latest Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016 shows that is in 123rd position worldwide in terms of road quality. The report is based on polls carried out from Russian businessmen and assessed the quality of local roads at 2.7 points on average on a scale from 1 - 7. However this ranking is an improvement on the previous report carried out in 2012, when Russia’s roads scored 136th worldwide for quality.

    UK exports of construction and earthmoving equipment continued its upward trend in Q2 of 2017, showing growth for the fourth consecutive quarter. Overall, Q2 2017 levels were the highest for two years, since Q2 2015, according to the latest quarterly report from the UK’s CEA – Construction Equipment Association.     Plans are in hand for major upgrades to Russia’s road network. Russian Highways (Avtodor) aims to construct 958km of roads, as well as to reconstruct 963km of road and improve 700km of road bed by 2019.
