359 Volvo CE is upgrading its L260 wheeled loader with the introduction of the H-series variant. The new model delivers a 15% increase in productivity while offering a10% fuel saving over the outgoing G-series model according to the firm.

This 35tonne class machine is designed for heavy-duty applications and benefits from a 50mm increase in wheelbase, boosting stability and load carrying capability. The optimised design of the front chassis and loader configuration are said to combine with its longer wheelbase to improve weight distribution and allow for larger buckets to be used.

The 310kW D13 engine delivers 6% more power and 5% more torque than the diesel in the L250G being replaced. The new L260H has the latest generation of load-sensing hydraulics, said to boost responsiveness and improve boom lifting and lowering speed. The new HTL310 transmission works with the engine and axles to deliver faster cycle times. A new converter delivers increased torque output, while steps between gears are reduced, boosting acceleration.

The advanced hydraulics save hydraulic pump power for other functions, while the new dry P-brake eliminates drag losses. In addition, the upgraded OptiShift technology integrates the reverse by braking (RBB) function and a new torque converter with lock-up, providing a direct drive between engine and transmission for lower fuel consumption.

The machine is offered with four standard buckets, one each for rock and sand and two for rehandling applications. The machine has a dynamic load weighing system that monitors the amount of material moved, as well as the option of either single or multiple levers and a choice of three hydraulic modes.

Visibility from the cab has been improved, while an optional rear view camera can be added, which works with the radar detect system. The L260H has been built to be durable and for easy serviceability and also features the firm’s proven Z-bar linkage.
