Kobelco’s new SK520LC-11 excavator offers increased performance

Increased performance is claimed for Kobelco’s SK520LC-11E excavator, which is now being offered in two variants.

The standard model is the SK520LC-11E model, however there is also the new SK520LC-11E Mass Excavation variant, for specific application needs. Both models weigh from 52.9-57.2tonnes, depending on specification and have power from a six-cylinder Isuzu diesel rated at 348kW that meets Tier 4 Final/Stage V emissions requirements.

Standard bucket capacities for the conventional version are from 1.4-3.4m3, while it is offered with a short 3m arm, a standard 3.45m arm and a long 4.04m arm. Meanwhile the mass excavation variant is offered with the 3.4m bucket as standard and a 2.6m arm, allowing it to be used for high production operations.

Roadtec has long held a strong position in this segment, with its highly successful Shuttle Buggy machine, which continues to be improved. However Roadtec is also now facing increasing competition from rival firms offering their own machines
