Hitachi’s new quarry-sized excavator offers high performance and productivity

233 Hitachi has unveiled a new range of hydraulic excavators at bauma China 2014. High performance, productivity and durability are claimed. The models on show range from the powerful 69tonne ZX690LCH-5A to the 16.8tonne ZX170LC-5A. The other two models on show were the 34.1tonne ZX360K-5G and the 20.3tonne ZX200-5G. The ZX690LCH-5A is a heavy duty machine suited to quarry applications for truck loading for example, with power from a 345kW diesel and wielding a 4m3 bucket. The ZX360K-5G can be used in earthmoving and quarrying and features a 1.6m3 bucket, while its engine is rated at 184kW. The ZX200-5G is aimed at a popular size class used in a wide array of applications, with power from a 125kW diesel and featuring a 0.91m3 bucket. The ZX170LC-5A has a 79kW diesel and a 0.7m3 bucket and is a highly versatile machine to suit an array of applications.

All-wheel-drive trucks for the Chinese market - Mike Woof reports. One noticeable development at the bauma China exhibition in Shanghai in late 2012 was the proliferation of ADT models. Doosan and Volvo showed some of their latest ADT variants alongside their latest excavators and are keen to highlight the benefits of ADTs for use on sites where traction or grade may be an issue for rigid trucks or on/off highway haulers. However Caterpillar chose to highlight its off-highway rigid trucks at bauma China, as
