Two new Russian bridges being planned

Two major new bridge projects are being planned in Russia. One bridge will span the Volga River, the other will span the Yenisei River in Siberia.

Design work for the third bridge spanning the River Volga near to Saratov will commence in 2020. The plans call for this new road bridge to be constructed close to the existing railway bridge.

Meanwhile in Siberia’s Krasnoyarsk Region, a bridge measuring over 2km is being planned. This project is expected to cost US$138 million and also involves building a new roundabout to connect the bridge road with existing roads.

    Plans are in hand in Canada to extend Highway 427 by 6.6km. The final decision over the project has yet to be made by the Ontario Government. The work is expected to cost in the region of C$500 million (US$491 million) to carry out. The work is required as the highway carries a heavy traffic volume and the extension will help reduce congestion in the surrounding area. The work should commence in 2017 once the necessary approvals have been given and the construction would then require an estimated 36 months.

  • Bidding for Uganda road connecting Kampala and Jinja

    In Uganda bidding is now underway for the new expressway project to improve transport between capital Kampala and the industrial city of Jinja. The project for the 95km section of road is expected to cost US$1 billion to construct.
