A new bridge in Ecuador will improve transport connections in the country. The opening of this new structure is of note as it is the longest bridge in Ecuador. The Bahia de Caraquez-San Vicente road bridge cost some US$102 million to construct.
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
Successful talks have been held between Chile and Argentina regarding the planned Agua Negra road tunnel that will link the two countries. Further talks will be carried out with regard to financing the project but these look set to be completed towards the end of August 2014, according to a report from Business News Americas.
