Major Turkish bridge project moving forward

The project to build Turkey’s new 1915 Cannakkale Bridge is gathering pace, with construction work expected to commence shortly. The tender for the project was won by a contracting consortium comprising construction companies coming from Turkey and South Korea. The project to build Turkey’s new 1915 Cannakkale Bridge is gathering pace, with construction work expected to commence shortly. The tender for the project was won by a contracting consortium comprising construction companies coming from Turkey and South Korea. The Turkish contractors in the consortium are 7010 Yapi Merkezi and 5095 Limak while the South Korean companies are SK and 3088 Daelim and this project team was awarded the deal due to the short construction period required. The bridge will span the Dardanelles Strait and the construction project is costing in the region of US$2.55 billion to carry out. The building work is due to commence in March 2017 and is expected to be complete by 2023.
