Japanese funding will help pay for the construction of a key bridge link in Sri Lanka. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is providing a loan worth US$292.14 million for the bridge project. The new link will span the Kelani River.
A new bridge is planned that will span the Okavango River in northern Botswana. The bridge will feature a cable-stayed structure and will be 1.2km long in all, with a 400m central section. The project also includes the construction of 3km of roads to connect the new bridge to existing road infrastructure, as well as installing necessary lighting and drainage systems. The project is expected to cost in excess of US$93 million and take three years to complete.
Loans from China will help pay for new road projects in Ethiopia. Two loans worth a total of US$170 million are being provided by the Export-Import Bank of China. One road project loan will be worth $120 million and the other worth $50 million. The country is seeing its transport network being revitalised with a series of projects that are intended to help develop its future economic growth.
Angloa will build a 26km ring road to connect the cities of Quilemba and Eywa in the southwestern province of Huila.
The 9m wide road will cost around US$43.24 million and be completed in 18 months, Angola’s national news agency ANGOP reported.
The governor of Huila, João Marcelino Tyipinge, announced the project in Lubango, capital city of the province.
