Work restarting on coastal highway in Iran

The Iranian authorities have announced plans to restart work on a coastal highway project. The project is expected to cost some US$83 million, with the Iranian Government shouldering $43 million of the investment required. When it is complete, the highway will connect the cities of Mashhad and Astara via Bojnord, Gorgan, Dari and Rash. Work on the Bojnord-Gorgan stretch is expected to complete and the highway to be open for traffic in the second quarter of 2016

    A new highway project is planned for Cambodia that will improve transport connections to and from its capital, Phnom Penh and the coastal area, Preah Sihanouk. Construction is scheduled to commence in November 2018, with the 190km route expected to cost in the order of US$1.8 billion. The Cambodian Government is managing the project itself, through the Ministry of Public Works. Once the highway is complete it will provide an improved transport link between Phnom Penh and the port of Sihanoukville.

These projects will be handled under the PPP model, with international investment being encouraged by the Argentinian Government. A series of tenders will open during October 2017 while construction work on the projects is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2018. The nine projects going to tender will be worth a total of US$5.61 billion, although additional works may be announced in due course.

    Superior Construction will build the fifth and final section of Florida’s Wekiva Parkway Project in the US. The US$38.65 million contract was awarded by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX). Superior’s section of the project will be from Kelly Park Road and Country Road 436/Mount Plymouth Road. This work will commence in early August 2016 and should be completed by January 2018.   • Plans for Italy's key highway unveiled

    plan for Italy’s key Orte-Mestre highway has been unveiled with the project expected to cost over €11 billion. Of this, some €1.43 billion is expected to be funded by the Italian Government, while €9.5 billion is expected to be provided by private sources. The work is expected to take several years to complete. The project will link the Adriatic Centre-South with the North-East, and connect with Europe’s with the corridor 5, running from Lisbon-Kiev.
