Vietnam’s major highway project on track

Construction work is underway on Vietnam’s North-South highway project. A 654km stretch of the route is being built at present, with this work costing US$5.1 billion. Clearance work for other sections of the North-South highway is due co commence. In mid-2019, construction work is due to start on three sections, while tendering will open for eight PPP projects that will for stretches of the North-South highway.

    Plans are moving forward in Indonesia for the development of a major new tolled highway project. Jakarta Tollroad Development is at present working on purchasing the land required for a key section of the toll road. The new route will run from Sunter in North Jakarta to Semanan in West Jakarta.     The first stretch of a highway development project in Texas is now open. New southbound toll lanes have been built for the Texas 288 project, running between downtown Houston and the Brazoria County line.     Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport is to prioritise construction of the new North-South Expressway. The project will provide a much improved connection between the country’s north and south, speeding transport and boosting safety. It will feature from four to six lanes and have speed limits ranging between 80km/h and 120km/h.
