Vietnam plans highway building

Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) reports strong interest in for the 58km Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway project.

2829 Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) reports strong interest in for the 58km Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway project. The road will cost US$1.6 billion to construct. The work on the expressway will be funded by 943 Asian Development Bank (ADB) and 2416 Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). JICA will fund construction of two bridges crossing the Soai Rap River and Long Tau River, with the work worth $635 million. Meanwhile ADB will fund roads and viaducts construction worth some $636 million. Also in Vietnam, the 56km Cau Gie-Ninh Binh highway project requires a further $168.2 million for work to be completed. 2560 Vietnam's Ministry of Transport says that the project is 84% complete. The cost of the work has increased due to factors such as climbing materials prices.

    Odebrecht has been awarded a concession for Brazil’s important BR-163 federal highway route. The 851km section of highway runs through Mato Grosso state and the deal is worth some US$2 billion, according to a report by Business News Americas. As part of its contract, Odebrecht will have to widen a 454km stretch of the route within five years and is also required to build nine new toll booths.

    Serbia has managed to reduce the cost of building the Corridor 10 highway by €80 million. These funds will instead be used to pay for upgrades and improvements needed for the second section of the highway project, close to Neradovci. So far some 180km of the Corridor 10 highway has been built over a 40 month time frame. A further 150km of the highway has still to be built. Work on the Corridor 10 motorway is also being financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the state budget.
