A new bridge is being built in Taiwan and is due for completion by June 2016.

A new bridge is being built in Taiwan and is due for completion by June 2016. The bridge will be constructed at Kinmen and will measure 5.4km long. The structure will link Little Kinmen (Lieyu) with Kinmen Island (Greater Kinmen). The project is costing US$239 million. The progress of the construction work is being monitored by the Taiwan Area National Expressway Engineering Bureau.

    Explosives were used successfully in the US to demolish the Long Island Bridge. The structure formerly provided a connection to Squantum's Long Island, however it had fallen into disrepair and a decision was made to remove the structure.
