South Africa road repair deals for contractors

A series of road repair contracts are being carried out now in South Africa. Bakwena, a road construction and maintenance firm, is maintaining and upgrading road infrastructure along the 385km of the N1N4 in a deal worth US$84.6 million. Meanwhile the contractor Raubex Construction is working on a $49.22 million project for a new link between the M17 and R512 routes. A series of road repair contracts are being carried out now in South Africa. Bakwena, a road construction and maintenance firm, is maintaining and upgrading road infrastructure along the 385km of the N1N4 in a deal worth US$84.6 million. Meanwhile the contractor Raubex Construction is working on a $49.22 million project for a new link between the M17 and R512 routes. In addition, 3038 Raubex Construction is carrying out $4.65 million of improvement works on the R511 interchange. Resurfacing of a stretch of the N4 is being carried out by Roadmac Surfacing in a deal worth $8.46 million, while G4Civils is working on a stretch of the N4 in a contract worth $23.09 million.

In all 12 projects are being planned for upgrades on the N2 and N3 routes, with a total value of nearly US$562 million. Seven of the tenders will be for the N3 connecting Johannesburg with Durban. The aim is to reduce congestion at peak periods and shorten journey times for drivers. The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) has plans for $2.7 billion of road improvement works to upgrade key links over coming years.
