Russian route repair contract awarded

Contractor VAD is to carry out the repair works to the A-181 Scandinavia Highway in Russia. The work is worth close to US$43 million and will have to be completed by 17th December 2018. The upgrade work will be carried out on the section of the highway that lies between Vyborg and Svetogorsk.

    Russia is looking to boost road safety through a combination of upgrades to existing infrastructure and revised standards. The aim is to cut crashes through targeting known hotspots for incidents. The programme will also tackle congestion in key areas.     A new bridge is planned that will span the Okavango River in northern Botswana. The bridge will feature a cable-stayed structure and will be 1.2km long in all, with a 400m central section.
