Panama road and bridge projects being planned

The tender process is opening for a new road project in Panama to connect Veracruz with Vacamonte, as well as for a new bridge. The new road and bridge link will be in Arraijan, in Panama’s Oeste Province. The tender process is being managed by Panama’s Ministry of Public Works (MOP). The new bridge will span the Bique River.

    Planning is being carried out for the new Mombasa Gate Bridge project, which is expected to cost close to US$778 million. The bridge will connect Mombasa Island with the South Coast, replacing a ferry operation, which first began operation in 1937.     Plans are being made in Cambodia for a new tolled highway connecting Phnom Penh with the Vietnamese border at Bavet. The route for the highway is being planned by Cambodia’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport. Input for the project is being provided by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The new highway will cut travel time between Phnom Penh and Bavet to two hours, compared with up to five hours using the current road. The project will cost US$2.5 band should be completed in 2033.
