The contract for a stretch of elevated expressway has been awarded in the Philippines. DM Consunji is the contractor that will carry out the construction work to build the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project Section 1. The firm will build 5km of the 8km route, with the contract worth US$429.7 million. The package of works was awarded by NLEX Corp and involves providing a new link road from Caloocan, connecting to C3 and to Espana Boulevard in capital Manila. Momentum is gathering for the construction of a new elevated expressway in the city of Yangon in Myanmar. The project is expected to cost US$400 million ad the expressway will measure 27km-long. The new route will provide an improved road connection for Yangon International Airport to the city’s industrial area, Yangon Jetty and the Thilawa Special Economic Zone. It will also link with the Yangon-Mandalay highway and construction is expected to commence in 2019.
A new expressway project is due to commence in China in early 2019. The work is expected to cost US$1.37 billion and involves upgrading the Meiguan Expressway. The work will be carried out over an 8km stretch between the Qinghu Flyover and Meilin Tollgate. The work involves work to 25 tunnels and eight interchange flyovers, as well as a number of pedestrian underpasses and footbridges. The project is planned to utilise the latest 3D and BIM software technology.
A new expressway project is underway in India’s Uttar Pradesh State. The 293km Bundelkhand Expressway project is worth in the region of US$1.135 billion. Land acquisition for the project has proven an issue with the Uttar Pradesh State Government now taking steps to speed up this process. Bidding for the project is opening shortly. The aim of the project is to help develop the economy of the Bundelkhand Region of Uttar Pradesh State.
