International interest is said to be strong in the tenders for sections of Vietnam’s massive North-South Expressway project. Japanese and Chinese firms have submitted bids for the eight sections of the route now open for tender. In all the expressway will measure some 2,100km in length. The first phase of the project is for 654km of the route with this work being handled in eight separate sections. These contracts will all be handled under the PPP model. Chinese companies look likely to play key roles in major expressway construction projects in Thailand. The Rama III-Dao Khanong-Western Bangkok Outer Ring Expressway project is being handled in four separate sections, with the deals being finalised in September 2019. Major Chinese contractors are amongest the leading bidders for three of the four sections.
Construction work is underway on Vietnam’s key Trung Luong-My Thuan expressway project. The rate of construction has been speeded up for the section located in Tien Giang Province. Funding issues had previously slowed the work. However a complete financing package has yet to be secured.
