New roads to connect Slovakia and Czech Republic

New road links are planned to connect Slovakia and its neighbour, the Czech Republic. The Slovak Ministry of Transport stated that by 2020 two new routes are planned to link the countries. The R6 expressway will run from Puchov in Slovakia and connect the Trencin region with Zlin in the Czech Republic. Meanwhile the R5 expressway will run from Svrcinovec in Slovakia and link the country’s Zilina regions with the Morava-Sliezsko region in the Czech Republic. New road links are planned to connect Slovakia and its neighbour, the Czech Republic. The Slovak Ministry of Transport stated that by 2020 two new routes are planned to link the countries. The R6 expressway will run from Puchov in Slovakia and connect the Trencin region with Zlin in the Czech Republic. Meanwhile the R5 expressway will run from Svrcinovec in Slovakia and link the country’s Zilina regions with the Morava-Sliezsko region in the Czech Republic. Construction for the R6 project is expected to start in 2017, while the construction of the R5 stretch from Svrcinovec to the Slovak-Czech border should be carried out between 2015 and 2016. The 10.8km R6 section from Puchov - Mestecko should be built between 2016 and 2020, while the 12.2km section of the R6 from Mestecko to the Slovak-Czech border is planned to be built in 2017 - 2020. The construction of the Czech stretch should start on the turn of 2016/2017.
