New road for Russia’s Krasnodar Region

A new 23km road project is planned for Russia’s Krasodar Region. Construction of the new road project is expected to commence in 2025. The new route will cost an estimated US$225.s million to build. Included in the construction of the new route will be new interchanges and multi-lane overpass stretches.

The 5.7km highway stretch will feature two lanes in either direction and will be constructed in Malaysia’s Penang State. The Kerch Strait bridge spans the Black Sea, connecting Russia’s Taman Peninsula in Krasnodar with Crimea, the latter having been controversially annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014. The official opening of the 19km-long bridge was carried out by Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, who drove across the link in a Russian-manufactured Kamaz truck to reach the city of Kerch.

  • Russia is setting out a new road development budget

    Russia is setting out plans for development of its transport network, with road construction and maintenance amongst the areas being prioritised. The new plan will run from 2016-2021 and has been established by the Transport Ministry. In all the country intends to spend close to US$90 billion developing transportation. The construction of new federal highways and rebuilding of existing links will be high on the agenda for action. During 2016, the plans call for 360km of new motorways opening for traffic.
