New expressway project for the Philippines

Work on a US$245.6 million expressway project is now underway in the Philippines. The 58km-long expressway will improve transport between the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Regions, reducing journey times for drivers while also improving safety. The first section of the Southern Luzon Expressway-Toll Road 4 (SLEX-TR4) to be built will be between Star Toll and Lucena, lying to the south of Manila. The SLEX-TR4 route is being constructed by South Luzon Tollways, itself a subsidiary of the firm San Miguel.

    Construction work is commencing on a key contract in Malaysia to build a new bridge. The US$106.4 million project is being handled by the contractor Naza EC and is for the construction of the 1.5km long Bagan Datuk Bridge, as well as an 8.7km long link road.
