The tender process for the construction of tolled lanes around Tel Aviv now looks set to be delayed. The additional lanes are planned to be built at key points on the network around Tel Aviv in a bid to cut congestion. An earlier project for a tolled lane in the Tel Aviv area, linking the Shappirim Interchange with the centre of the city, has proven highly successful at helping to reduce congestion levels. The three new sections are intended to further improve traffic flow in and around the city. These lanes would link the city with the Shefayim Interchange, Morasha Interchange and Rishon Lezion.

The tender documents for the three lanes could still be published in the fourth quarter of 2018, although this would be 12 months after the original timeline. The projects will all be handled under the PPP model. The work will include building two new parking lots and 110km of tolled lanes. Variable price tolling will be used, as with the existing lane.
