Hanoi city to benefit from ring road

Plans have been put forward for a new ring road around the Vietnamese city of Hanoi. The project is expected to cost in excess of US$4 billion to construct and the road could be as much as 330km long.

Plans have been put forward for a new ring road around the Vietnamese city of Hanoi. The project is expected to cost in excess of US$4 billion to construct and the road could be as much as 330km long. The project to build Ring Road No5 has been approved by the Vietnamese Government. The proposed route runs through 36 districts around the city and the timeline calls for the road to be ready for traffic by 2020.

    Plans are in hand in Malaysia to build a new highway costing US$1.06 billion. The route will run from Jelapang-Selama-Batu Kawan and the proposal has been put forward by Beta Mutiara. The three-lane highway will stretch for 116km between Jelapang, Perak and Batu Kawan, Penang. Should the work get the go ahead the project would be carried out by Beta Mutiara subsidiary BMT Jelas.

    Odebrecht has been awarded a concession for Brazil’s important BR-163 federal highway route. The 851km section of highway runs through Mato Grosso state and the deal is worth some US$2 billion, according to a report by Business News Americas. As part of its contract, Odebrecht will have to widen a 454km stretch of the route within five years and is also required to build nine new toll booths.
