In the Netherlands work on the A9 highway contract will be carried out by the IXAS Zuid-Oost consortium. The consortium includes the companies Heijmans, Ballast-Nedam, Fluor and 3i Infrastructure. The €700 million contract is for the A9 highway between Diemen and Holendrecht and includes building a 3km tunnel as well as a bridge spanning the Gaasp River. The deal includes the 20 year management and maintenance package.
A new transport plan is being drawn up in the Philippines in a bid to deal with the country’s frequent traffic delays. The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has commissioned the World Bank to set out a country-wide infrastructure roadmap. This plan is called the 'Philippine Transport Infrastructure Development' by the World Bank is in broadly in line with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)'s 'Dream Plan' for the country. Serbia’s Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure says that the new Zemun-Borca Bridge will open by 20th December 2014. The Zemum Bridge project will be complete within the planned timeframe, with this work including the access roads. The structure spans the Danube River and will now be named the Pupinov Bridge, after the Serbian scientist Mihajlo Pupin following a decision by the City Board of Belgrade. The authorities in China have revealed that construction of the Fuzhou section of the new Beijing-Taipei highway will commence by late May 2012. The two-way four-lane expressway will have a design speed of 100km/h. The 53km Fuzhou section is expected to cost some US$1.04 billion to construct. This section of highway will take four years to complete.
