Key highway projects are being planned in Vietnam. The Ninh Binh-Thanh Hoa expressway will run 127km and is expected to cost US$1.6 billion to construct. The Nghi Son-Bai Vot expressway will cost $1 billion to build and Vietnam's Ministry of Transport (MoT) hopes to source a loan from the World Bank for this project. Vietnam's MoT is putting the projects through the tender process at present. The deals will be made under either the build-operate-transfer (BOT) or public-private partnership (PPP) models. So
New Zealand’s Waterview tunnel project in Auckland will provide a key link in, boosting capacity and safety while reducing congestion and journey times. A consortium will handle the work for the Waterview Connection road, in a deal worth $1.15 billion (NZ$1.4 billion). The Well Connected consortium includes local company Fletcher Construction as well as other New Zealand and overseas firms. The deal is of note as it will be New Zealand’s single largest highway project and work is due to commence in November
The new Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe)/HCME European Parts Depot has been officially opened. At the Oosterhout facility, southern Netherlands, the guest of honour was Hitachi Construction Machinery president Michijiro Kikawa, who gave a speech to other guests at the ceremony, among them Mitsuhiro Tabei, president of HCME. He then presented representatives from the parts depot with a special Japanese maple tree, which was planted in front of the building.
The new Maynard H Jackson Jr International Terminal at Hartsfield- Jackson Atlanta International Airport is now open for business. The 111,484m2 terminal features 12 gates, eight security checkpoints, separate levels for arrivals and departures, as well as a 148,831m2 concrete apron for aircraft to park on arrival. Archer Western won the contract to slipform the concrete apron, replace the existing Taxiway D, as well as other utilities and embankment work. The firm brought in one of its GOMACO paving trains
