The general manager of the Volvo CE dealer in China’s Guangxi Province had a special requirement, to help a major client with a rapidly growing fleet of Volvo CE machines. And this need led to the development of mobile service stations in modified sea freight containers.
This system is now being used at the Guangxi Pingguo Aluminium Company, a major aluminium ore mining company.
JLG has added two new lightweight versions to its range of Toucan mast boom lifts, the Toucan 8E-L and the Toucan 10E-L which will be available from June this year. “The 8E-L is now in a weight category that allows it to be carried into service elevators, making it much more versatile,” said Jan-Willem van Wier, product marketing manager for aerial platforms. “The 10 E-L can be towed behind a vehicle in a 3.5 tonne trailer.”

The system provides hour-meter reporting, location tracking and machine use rates. It also provides substantial security benefits such as geo-fencing, motion alarms and remote machine disabling.
The telehandler provides a lifting height of almost 5.8m, a lifting capacity of 2.5tonnes and 2tonnes at maximum height.
