Milling subcontractor Pavement Recycling Systems removed thousands of tonnes of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) from a runway at Oakland International Airport in California recently. The firm used a fleet of six Wirtgen W 210i cold milling machines to remove the asphalt in less than 60 hours from Runway 12-30, along the shore of San Francisco Bay.

Huesker, an earthworks and foundation designer for roads and pavements, has posted a short video explaining “interaction flexibility”, a new term for geogrid-reinforced structures. Interaction flexibility is an important technical term, as important as tensile strength and tensile stiffness, to secure the quality of a geogrid reinforced construction, explains the engineering team at Huesker which has its head office in Gescher, Germany.
Most of the dual layer paving in Japan is performed by the Multi-Asphalt Paver, manufactured by SUMITOMO (S.H.I.) CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY CO., LTD (SUMITOMO) As per the introduction report to follow, this machine can simultaneously handle two different types of asphalt mixtures and can perform two kinds of paving methods.
First one is Dual layer paving (it is called Dual Asphalt Pavement method), and the second is Multi Lane Pavement method. Hereinafter, paving methods using the Multi-Asphalt Paver will be
