Cat’s latest E-series excavator is the 16.7tonne 316E. It replaces the 315D and gets a Cat C4.4 Acert engine to meet EU Stage IIIb emissions. It is the first of three smaller E series being launched by Cat this year. Electric boom regeneration is also available on the new model, and combined with the latest engine technology, gives the company a fuel-saving focus. Attachments specialist Labounty has introduced two new cutter crushers, said to be the most powerful in their class. The MDP 20R can be mounted to the dipper of a 25tonne machine or to the boom of an 18tonne carrier. The heavier MDP 30R matches the dipper of a 35 tonne excavator or the boom of a 25tonne.

To address the needs of the off-road market, Scania has added bigger non-slip steps, an additional step for windscreen cleaning and light guards to its off-road range of tractive units and multi wheelers. As an option the chassis can be supplied with factory-fitted PTO hydraulics and tank to power tipper rams or similar.

Inan Makina is best known as a breaker company but has greatly expanded its range in the last year to meet customer demand for other types of attachment. Breakers are joined on the stand by examples from its other lines, which now include hydraulic compactors, augers, pulverisers, crushers and sorting grabs. Ihimer, the joint venture between Japanese company IHI and Italian firm Imer, has added two skid steer loaders to its growing range of compact equipment. The AS30 and AS34 have operating weights of 3,150kg and 3,500kg respectively, with rated working loads of 850kg and 1,020kg. Power comes from a 50kW Kubota engine in the smaller machine and a 61kW Yanmar motor in the AS34.
