Parker Hannifin has introduced a fourth proportional function joystick for use in materials handling, construction and forestry equipment. The IQAN-LC6 mini-coordinate joystick allows the use of a fourth proportional circuit through a ring around the base of the lever.

Element Six is showing its second generation D Power road picks, which have been designed to give an even longer working life than the previous model. A new tougher steel surround has been developed to match the life of the polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tip. D Power road picks are now expected to give 50 times the overall life of standard machine milling picks, beating the figure of 40 claimed for the previous model. Goodyear’s new wheeled loader tyre for heavy applications, the RT-5D, is said to offer 25% more carrying capacity, greater comfort and more powerful traction compared to its predecessor. The claim is based on internal assessment at the Goodyear Innovation Centre Luxembourg 2012 in comparison with the RT-5C (tested size, 29.5R25).

Mitas has unveiled the newest addition to its family of ERL earthmoving tyres, the 20.5R25 ERL-50. The tyre will become available for sale worldwide by July. Mitas makes specific tyres for machines operating in demanding conditions, including gravel and rock quarries. The Mitas ERL series features 12 tyres of 28mm to 90mm tread depth, with the ERL-50 designed for rocky conditions.

NLMK Clabecq, the Belgian plate division of Russian steel giant NLMK Group, is benefitting from a €100m investment in its quenching and tempering operation, with the introduction of additional Quard abrasion-resistant steels and Quend high-yield strength steel plate.

The VLTS traction tyre from Bridgestone has been introduced with an increased tread depth to give greater longevity in ADT applications. With 60mm deep tread blocks in place of 47.5mm for the standard tyre, the VLTS in 875/65 R29 is a low-profile replacement for the 29.5 R25 tyre among 40tonne class ADTs.

Indian tyre manufacturer BKT got the WOW factor as it launched a number of new products. Bridgestone has introduced a snow tyre for wheeled loaders and ADTs, called the VSW. The soft compound open tread block design offers low-profile tyre characteristics, higher grip and more flotation than non-winter tyre compounds.

Crusher spares specialist CMS Cepcor has opened a new technical centre at Coalville in the UK and has now transferred its Baguley Precision Engineering business into the newly formed Precision Services Division. The company has moved machine servicing from Burton-on-Trent to the new technical centre and retained all the engineering staff. Within the centre is a CNC manufacturing capability, which will enhance the manufacturing, inspection and repair facilities at Coalville.

Hydra shearer drums, now part of the ESCO family of mining products, have been engineered with radial-style picks and tool holders that are recessed into the vane to deliver optimum cutting performance. The result is reduced wear on the drum, increased product size and lower power consumption. The range of shearer drums can also be equipped with conical style picks.
