German engine manufacturer Deutz saw new orders rise in the first quarter 2018 by nearly 43% per cent year-on-year to almost €575 million. The figure for the corresponding period in 2017 was €403 million, while in the fourth quarter of 2017 it was nearly €383 million. Alcohol use is a key factor in a high percentage of fatal road crashes in Taiwan. According to official data from Taiwan's National Police Agency (NPA), driving under the influence of alcohol is the single biggest cause of fatal crashes for drivers aged 18-59. Other major causes of crashes included failing to obey traffic signs, road markings or signals. There were 1,43 fatal road crashes in Taiwan during 2017.

Morocco’s annual rate of road crashes continues to increase, providing cause for concern. The last five years have seen a steady growth in the number of road crashes in the country, due in part to the climb in Morocco’s vehicle population. In the past decade Morocco’s vehicle numbers have doubled to hit 4 million. However there are concerns over whether driver training is sufficient. One of the applications for LIDAR is to make high resolution 3-D maps. Self-driving cars are pre-loaded with a LIDAR map of the trials area in which they are permitted to fully self-drive themselves. The cars also have their own LIDAR scanner which captures a real-time LIDAR view of the vehicle’s surroundings. Nigeria’s longest concrete road should be open by the end of the year, according to AG-Dangot, contractor on the project. Around 33km of earthworks and 23km of pavement have been completed for the 44km Obajana–Kabba project in Kogi state, according to Ashif Juma, managing director of AG-Dangote.
