Telsmith rolls out tested and upgraded TRAC10 integrated controls system

Telsmith is rolling out the fully-tested and significantly upgraded TRAC10, a new integrated controls system. The Astec Industries’ company says that while bauma 2013 attendees saw demonstrations of the system CONEXPO-CON/AGG attendees witness its full rollout. Combined as a standard feature on the new Telsmith T-Series cone crushers, the total crushing and controls package will allow integration into the network of any plant controls system, old or new, and regardless of type or brand, says Telsmith.

2987 Telsmith is rolling out the fully-tested and significantly upgraded TRAC10, a new integrated controls system.

The 681 Astec Industries’ company says that while 688 Bauma 2013 attendees saw demonstrations of the system 3485 Conexpo-CON/AGG attendees witness its full rollout.

Combined as a standard feature on the new Telsmith T-Series cone crushers, the total crushing and controls package will allow integration into the network of any plant controls system, old or new, and regardless of type or brand, says Telsmith.

TRAC10 is based on the B&R Ethernet POWERLINK platform, an integrated system that is a successor to classic fieldbus technology, which often required different fieldbus systems for different automation tasks. Alternatively, Ethernet POWERLINK allows even the most demanding tasks in the areas of controls engineering and motion control to be combined in a single network; and it also provides an ideal foundation for future upgrades and modular machine concepts, says B&R.

"While the earlier version of TRAC10 remains an optional feature on the SBS cone, the next-generation TRAC10 system will offer a number of additional benefits as standard to the new T-Series Cone," says Telsmith engineer Shamus Coughlin.

Features include the ability to run up to four crushers with a single touch-screen as well as the capability to connect to TRAC10 via a Wi-Fi hotspot and laptop or with a smartphone.

Also new to TRAC10 is the addition of auto-wear and auto-power features that will automatically keep track of liner wear and make adjustments on the fly without the operator having to input anything. Auto-power can also automatically maintain the desired horsepower level on the crusher.

“Importantly, no matter what the network of the plant, our TRAC10 system will be able to talk to its existing system,” says Coughlin.
