2624 Sakai America unveiled three new machines at Conexpo: two compactors with Tier 4 Interim engines and a new trench roller.

The 2m-wide SV540 vibratory drum roller has an ‘Eco’ mode, which marketing manager Josh Steele said could reduce fuel consumption by up to 20%. The new model also has a spacious cab, with new features including heating, air conditioning and an FM radio.

The SV412 model has manual traction and the SV540 has automatic traction control. “This means they can climb steep slopes in forward or reverse,” said Steele.

Visitors to the Sakai stand could also see the firm’s new trench roller, the SA33L-2, a rigid frame model with remote control, and the firm’s 1.3M asphalt compactor the SW502, which Sakai brought into the US recently.
