Using conventional systems, ready-mix concrete producers design concrete mixes based on limited data and visibility into the quality variations of raw materials and external factors. This leads to overdesigning the concrete mixture by adding excess cement to prevent potential performance issues.

But Giatec says that its proprietary AI algorithm has been developed for concrete testing. using the SmartMix Marcotte MBatch integration, concrete producers can optimise concrete mixtures, reduce cement usage, predict concrete properties, and proactively detect anomalies in concrete performance and testing. This will allow for a reduction in CO2 emissions and mix costs by up to 20%.

    January 4, 2013
Emissions remain the focus for engine development but equipment manufacturers want clarity from regulators. Emissions remain a major challenge for the off-highway construction equipment market. The EU has tough targets in this respect and its objective is an overall reduction of CO2 emissions of 80-95% by the year 2050, compared to 1990 levels. There is considerable research already underway on how to reduce fuel consumption and to help ensure the security of energy supply. A number of industry sectors, suc

The use of specialist equipment to produce hydraulically bound mixtures can save 30-40% on the cost of landfill and backfill it is claimed. The transportation and removal of old material from certain highway projects has long been a problem for contractors. But David MacLynn believes that the answer, in many instances, could lie in the use of hydraulically bound mixtures (HBM), which he says can save between 30-40% on the cost of landfill and backfill.
