Dynapac now has a productive tamping compactor in its line-up
161 Atlas Copco Construction Equipment’s 206 Dynapac division is introducing the CT3000 tamping compactor. Accorrding to the firm this uit offers rapid and efficient compaction for delivering specified densities on cohesive and semi-cohesive soils. With an operating weight of 22.5tonnes and an average production capacity of 820.7m3/hour, the Dynapac CT3000 is said to suit duties on projects such as highways, dams and airport runways where large-volume earthwork is required.

Power comes from a 196 Cummins diesel delivering 194kW and this drives through an automatic four speed transmission that provides all-wheel traction for high productivity. The machine is said to have an innovative power pack design that allows efficient power transfer to the final drive. The front oscillating axle works independently of the optional strike off blade and the rigid rear axle. This allows the blade to work in a permanently level position and ensures uniform distribution of soil on any type of terrain.

The square pads of the compacting drums are said to have been optimised in size and pattern to maximise the energy transmitted to the soil, helping the CT3000 produce uniform compaction density with minimum scarification. The drums are offset by the width of a pad so that the rear drum can compact areas that have not been compacted by the front drum, so a double pass results in a compaction width of 4.42m. This means the CT3000 can cover a larger area in fewer passes, saving time, fuel and money on the job. The CT3000 features novel pad drum design with the drum is mounted on air filled rubber tyres. This reduces vibration to the operator platform significantly allowing smoother ride. The pad drums can easily be removed for ease of transportation.

The machine has an ergonomic control layout with good all round visibility. Additional safety features include a low center of gravity to ensure optimum stability of the machine and two brake systems. Hydrostatic steering allows a steering angle of 40° to either side and a turning radius of less than 6.4m for better manoeuvrability in tight areas.
