Bee careful

Several mountain bikers in Spain recently underwent a painful experience when riding off-road. The men were attacked by a massive swarm of bees while taking part in the Tropical Bike Motril competition. A number of the cyclists jumped off their bikes while being attacked, with five having to be treated in hospital afterwards. One of the cyclists was stung 80 times.

    A South African cyclist suffered a serious crash during a race in his country, due to an antelope’s lack of awareness of road rules. The cyclist was knocked off his bicycle by a Red Hartebeest buck, which charged across the dirt road he was riding along. The cyclist saw the animal spring from the side of the road but there was little he could do to stop. The antelope dazedly stood up following the impact and then bounded away, apparently unhurt.     Police in the UK stopped a speeding car only to discover the passenger was in the late stages of labour and being driven to hospital by her partner. Before the officers were able to decide what to do next, the woman began to give birth. The officers, having undergone first aid training, assisted.
