Liebherr springs surprise for INTERMAT visitors

Liebherr took the wraps off two new tracked excavators at INTERMAT, catching many seasoned industry observers by surprise. The 24tonne R924 replaces the R916, while the heavier (50tonne) R956 succeeds the R954. The upgrade includes Stage IIIB engines featuring diesel particulate filters. The bigger machine can be specified with an extendable (LC-V) undercarriage, which has a 3metre travel width, meaning it can be transported on the roads of some countries without being disassembled.
C-series CX470 excavator takes centre stage on Case’s INTERMAT stand

A 6% increase in lift capacity, greater digging efficiency, reduced emissions and up to 5% lower fuel consumption are the benefits of Case’s new CX470C excavator. The 47 to 50tonne machine has a 9.8litre Stage IIIB engine delivering 270kW at 2,000rpm which contributes to a 5% increase in fuel efficiency and 5% faster cycle times. Some of the savings come from a Boom Economy Control, which automatically reduces engine revs and hydraulic power to the boom when speed and power are not a priority.

Chinese manufacturer Sany Heavy Industry has introduced a five-model crawler excavator range to the European market. The C Series excavators range in operating weight from the 7.5tonne SY75C to the 35.5tonne SY335C, with models at 13.5tonnes, 21.5tonnes and 23.5tonnes. Atlas Weyhausen wheel loaders have been given a power boost as part of the developments to meet the latest emission standards. The company is showing two of the new machine types, labelled as ‘e’ models, at the stand of its French business partner Payen. The new ‘e’-type wheel loaders have been designed to provide a significant gain in terms of power and performance. Engine outputs now amount to 70kW for the AR 80e and 85kW for the AR 95e at 2,200rpm, representing a power increase of more than 15% for each.
