Doosan Construction Equipment has launched a Dash-3 version of its popular reduced-radius 15tonne excavator, the DX140LCR-3. Powered by a Cummins QSB4.5 Stage IIIB-compliant engine, with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF), the machine has 10% more power and 15% more torque than the previous model. Both main boom and dipper arm forces get an 8% boost, while travel speeds are increased to 5.3km/h, resulting in a claimed a 10% increase in productivity.

Case is increasing its presence in the earthmoving sector with the launch of a three-model range of upgraded M Series dozers, up from two models in the previous generation. JCB has introduced two new soil compactors; the VM117D and the VM137D with operating weights of 11tonnes and 12.2tonnes respectively. Komatsu expects to see ‘intelligent’ machine control as a standard feature on dozers, excavators and potentially other machines within 10 years. It has started the roll-out of its intelligent machines with the D61EXi/PXi-23 dozer and a prototype PC210LCi-10 excavator.

Polish manufacturer Dressta, now owned by LiuGong, has updated the engine in its TD14R dozer to bring the machine into line with recent emissions regulations. The TD14R is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7 engine delivering 119kW. The 18.7tonne dozer is available in standard, long and low ground pressure track models, with a three-point suspension system to maintain tractive effort on rough ground.

Atlas Weyhausen has unveiled its biggest and most powerful wheeled loader yet – the AR 105e – which boasts a service weight of 9,450kg and a standard bucket capacity between 1.6 and 1.8m³. The AR 105e’s engine is a water-cooled Deutz Diesel motor TCD 4.1 with four in-line cylinders, an output of 105 kW@2,200rpm and a maximum torque of 550Nm. New Holland Construction (NHC) is unveiling at bauma the new low profile cab and FleetForce telematics system in its F Series graders which, the Italian company claims, are the best-selling graders in Europe. The new cab reduces the grader’s maximum height by 180mm, taking it down to just 3.06m. This is said to remove all transport limitations for both F106.7 and F156.7 models, whether they are fitted with 50.8cm or 63.5cm tyres.

Like its fellow new 9A series hydraulic excavators with engines above 130kW, the engine on the Robex R380NLC-9A hydraulic crawler excavator from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HI) comes with an EGR and diesel particulate filter (DPF). The DPF is said to be automatically or manually regenerated, ensuring compliance with all NOx and PM values. According to Hyundai HI, DPF filters only need to be cleaned after 5,000 to 6,000 hours in operation.
